This blog is about the move of Dawn and Ed to Denver, Colorado.

After Dawn has been living in the Netherlands for 5 years, we thought it was time to pack our stuff and make a move to Denver, Colorado. We choose Denver after a three month stay in 2001, we were there because of a job Ed was doing for Lucent Technologies. In May 2006, we decided to start Ed's greencard procedure and see how it would go from there.

Home design

Over the last couple weeks we have been very busy with the interior design of our new home and we finally are done. At least what this part is concerned...

What we also had to decide is the high voltage (pretty easy, just add some extra switches and wall outlets) and the low voltage. Now this is where i got my fantasy going ;-)

We decided to do it right cause the house is build up from the ground anyways so what we did is:
All rooms downstairs including master bathroom have speakers build into the ceiling with their own control panel to change from radio to CD and whatever you want. The Livingroom has surround sound build into the wall and upstairs all rooms and the bonus sitting area also have speakers in the ceiling. Now the 2 bathrooms upstairs we skipped but can always be added later!

Just wanted to share all the geek stuff I get to do with you.

Downstairs:
All speaker connections + cat5 hookups for the lcd displays and music controllers.

Upstairs:
The same geekstuff again.. ;-)

Rocky Mountain National Park

About 2 hours from here, North-west from denver is Rocky Mountain National Park. Friday June 8th we left right after work at 18:30 to drive up into the mountains. We arrived around 20:30 at the campground and had to rush to get our tent setup. Since we never set our tent up before we still managed to get it all setup in 30 mins without too many problems. By then it was pitch black outside so we quickly build our fire an basically got ready for the night.

Rocky Mountain National Park - Moraine lays about 9000 ft (2.7 km) high up into mountains (Denver is around 1 mile (1.6km) above sea level. The park is protected so no hunting is allowed.

There are some things to be aware of. Bears are very common in this area so keeping your food in containers stored in your car is a must! Keeping little children and dogs close to you since mountain lions can be on the lookout. But next to this all it's a gorgeous area where you can hike around and see a lot of elk and deer.

Like I said before 9000ft above sea level also means that as soon as the sun goes down you can expect the temperature to drop to maybe 35 - 40F (0 - 5 Celsius). During the days it's hot though ;-)

Anyways, I posted some pictures below of the meadow next to our campsite where we walked around and played in the little river with the dogs.

Talk to you all soon!
